Tomato poori is one of the Indian breakfast recipes with whole wheat flour flavoured with some basic spices with goodness of tomatoes
INGREDIENTS-
- Wheat flour- 1& 1/2 cup
- Semolina- half tsp
- Mint leaves, chopped-1.5 tbsp
- Puree of one large tomato
- Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
- Chili powder- 1 tsp
- Garam masala 1 tsp
- Baking soda- a pinch( optional)
- Cooking oil-1 tbsp for dough
- Oil for deep frying
- Salt- to taste
Method:-
In a big bowl mix wheat flour, semolina, garam masala, chili powder, oil, salt, baking soda and mint leaves,
Add tomato puree to the wheat flour mixture and make a medium stiff dough, also add few tsp of water if needed.
Cover and rest the dough for 10 minutes.
Now make small balls from the dough and dust with flour and roll to make medium thick pooris.
Heat oil in a deep pan take a rolled poori, pat it with your hands to dust off the excess wheat flour and gently slide the poori in the hot oil. Make sure oil is not smoking hot.
After adding in the oil, reduce the heat to medium and gently press the poori from one side with a slotted spoon, it helps to puff up the poori.
Fry from both the sides till golden in colour, remove from the pan and drain on a paper napkin.
Serve hot
